February the 11th 2011 saw the return of the Annual Industry Ball held, as it has been since 1962, at the Dorchester Hotel London. This evergreen event returned with gusto after a break of two years, we believe this to be the first occasion when economic circumstances have forced such an action. The 400 people from the industry who made the journey were entertained by the first class Johnny Howard dance band ‘Rolla Coaster’ with the Cabaret performance of the Military Band ‘Minden’, the fees for which support the Queens' Division. Mr Bryn Williams ably MC’d the whole evening in his time honoured fashion and now familiar red coat, as he has done for the last 50 years!
During the evening a business card draw was made and the fortunate winners of a night at the Dorchester, were Gerry and Hillary Warren. However much fun and enjoyment there is in an evening such as this the opportunity of networking with colleagues and associates cannot be over-emphasised and with such a cross section of the industry in the room opportunities were boundless. It is important not just to fill the room but that a wide range of companies book places, this was indeed the case with as many if not more business names on the list.
It was good to see the annual ‘do’ a sell out once more and the BFPA would like to thank all those involved in making the evening a success, and we look forward to seeing the industry at the same venue in 2012.
