We are pleased to be in a position to announce that the “Foundation Course in Working Safely with Hydraulic Hose and Connectors”, which was launched early in 2010 has now in its first year registered 300 people on the national register.
This is an important step in the continuing aim for our industry to ‘look after its own’ and was only possible by the Fluid Power Industry working together to produce what is high quality information with the quality of its overall workforce as the only driving motivation.
This course is available to all who work in our industry or indeed with equipment that uses our products, it has of late been adopted by several major companies as their in house training product. These companies are attracted by being able to offer training which has demonstrable independence and with the registration being run from the BFPA offices in Chipping Norton, this scheme has a nationally accepted validity.
However, the UK is not the only region in which good practice is not only spoken of but is a reality, and the BFPA is pleased that The South African Fluid Power Industry Association, SAFPA, now has a licence to give the course way down in the Southern Hemisphere, an accolade indeed. This foundation course is just one of many high quality training programs available through the BFPA many of which are adopted throughout Europe as part of the CETOP network. It is now possible for technicians/engineers to study fluid power at any level which suits both their ability and ambition.
