The BFPA was pleased to be the sponsor for the Spirit of Innovation Award, which is a feature of the Seawork Exhibition held annually in Southampton, this year between the dates 22nd-24th May.
The Award is divided into five categories these being:
-
Diving and Underwater Technology.
-
Marine Equipment and Materials.
-
Vessel Design & Construction.
-
Renewable Energy.
-
Safety & training
The judging is carried out during the first day of the show with the awards being made that evening at the Exhibition Dinner.
BFPDA member Armada Marine Hydraulics won the Marine Equipment section with their innovative filtration system ‘Europfilter’ which as an off-line system will not only remove particles down to 0.1 micron but takes out varnish, water and salts. The company sees a great future in both hydraulic systems and marine gearboxes significantly reducing maintenance downtime.
This type of award is important for Industry demonstrating that advances in the engineering world and certainly innovative thought, and money, is still being committed. This was amply demonstrated by the 27 companies that submitted 32 entries for the Award which with such competition adds yet further credibility to the Armada Award.
Our congratulations to all at Armada Marine Hydraulics for their efforts and, of course, for bringing fluid power to the forefront at Seawork.
