Quarterly Hydraulic Industry Trend Survey
The methodology used is confidentially reported data from BFPA hydraulic companies collected on a questionnaire, together with sound estimates for other hydraulic firms known to be selling equipment in the UK. This survey is carried out every quarter to cover three months: January – March, April – June, July – September, October – December, and mirrors some of the questions asked by the CBI Industrial Trend Survey but is specific to the hydraulic industry. Questionnaires are sent to all BFPA hydraulic companies towards the end of each quarter, the replies received are collated and a report produced which is sent only to those companies contributing data.
Questions covered include: factors limiting turnover (e.g. orders, labour, plant capacity, materials supply), level of activity against capacity, capital expenditure, trends for labour rates, turnover, selling prices, material costs, inventories, export trade. Firms are also asked to indicate trends in key end use markets for the past three months and the next quarter.
